April with its bloom and fruit
And the sweet smell of a flower
I am Grateful for the gifts that came with her
A new day
A new dawn
At the end I felt high
Anticipation for the month that’s come
Grateful, I am.
April with its bloom and fruit
And the sweet smell of a flower
I am Grateful for the gifts that came with her
A new day
A new dawn
At the end I felt high
Anticipation for the month that’s come
Grateful, I am.
Didn’t look like a good month half way gone
Looked like I’d end up where I didn’t want
Like a flood it sees me fighting
Finding a way to make better this that I have
It would seem like I suffer
But God knows how it has worked out to my rise
I am grateful for chance
Mysterious almost
That strange luck
I am grateful for open doors
The good fortune that I’ve got
You have made a way
It was the month of love
Now it is gone
Again to come
In a few months
But your love has no bounds
Time and space, irrelevant
Something that shines
Visible on every side
I am grateful for your heart
There were strange dreams
Even this morning
Who to interpret?
I, maybe
There is only good for me
Regardless of what was seen
You will not let fear creep in
Because we think the same things
I am Grateful
That you stand with me with all my crazies
I am Grateful
Thank you for food and water
For clothes and shelter
And the many simple pleasures that I enjoy
Thank you for pineapples and chocolate
You never fail to thrill my palate
You’ve filled my mouth with good
I have good news to give because of you
Thank you for books and for blog
Not like me, but then, still me
I am grateful at the progress I’ve made
Beyond what my words explain
You’ve spared me many pains
Driving sorrows from my domain
Gracing my days with joy and dancing
Thank you for the Bachata and the Tango
and for the Rueda de casino
For this beautiful thing called dance
I am indeed grateful
Your coolness is appreciated
And I worship you with the dance
I’m so grateful for the grace and mercy
that family have represented to me
I’m happy that I’m of benefit to them beyond being blood
Beyond the covenant that we share
From birth till now
and certainly tomorrow
the warmth of family warms my heart
to appreciation
Appreciation
Thinking it
Feeling it
Doing it
To family beyond blood
As kindred spirits
Friends of my heart
‘Tis gratitude that ye are
Thank you that I am rich
Thank you that I am strong
Thank you that I lived long
Fit and virile, hale and hearty
In wealth and health
With a continuum of joys and victories
The answer had been provided before I was born
For the question I’d ask with my life
I’ve got it
I live it
I am grateful
Thank you that you’re perfect
If you weren’t, this would be delusion
C’est finit on the cross
Happy Easter
Thank you for my teachers
Those that stood out
And all the others
I had to learn from every one of them
Mr Maxwell in primary five
One big black Ghanaian
I’d top your class that year two times
Thank for the opportunity to serve
To grow these ones
It had felt like a drain once or twice
I’m sure you can guess why
For the joy I hoped for
The cross was nothing and heavy at the same time
It was the case that you helped me in it
Thank you to my students
I have loved every one of you
Imperfect though I was
I learned as we went along
Thankful that you had something for me
Grateful that I could add to you
I am the better for knowing you
Teachers honour roll:
Mr Maxwell, Mrs Ariba, Mr Eze, Mr Ibironke, Mr Kayode S.G., Engr Eziashi, Dr Anyaeji, Dr Brown …
Thank you for the music and the dance
Thank you for the love of my life
Thank you for what we’ve shared
As You meant it for Christ and Church
Not the perfect past
Been as prodigal before
But like that father
You threw a party at my return
Thank you that I have love to celebrate
To appreciate some ones you have placed in my village
Thank you for this way you showed
And that we follow the same all the way
Thank you that I still live
Your mercy comes through for me
I’ve needed it many many times
Testing your patience, you don’t lose it
Rather, I feel the pangs of your love and affection
Thank you that I am here
That you didn’t let the justice of my guilt overwhelm
You had Christ speak for me instead
Thank you that your love speaks such sweet deeds
Keeps faith with me
Hopes in the Grace that I made it
It was perfect from the start
So I’ll thank you always
